Elżbieta Gajewska-Prorok

Curator in the Glass Department at the National Museum in Wrocław, lecturer at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław.

Organized many exhibitions dedicated to the history of glass and stained glass in the National Museum in Wrocław and in other museums. She researches the history of glassmaking, artistic issues in the field of glass and the history of stained-glass art in Silesia (artists, studios, history of the collections). She conducted research also on issues in the field of the goldsmith’s art (goldsmith decorations from the so-called Środa Treasure). Coordinator of purchasing art collections from the funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Head of the KBN [State Committee for Scientific Research]-sponsored research project (1992–1994), member of the research teams sponsored by the NCN [National Science Centre] (2013–2017) and NPRH [National Programme for the Development of the Humanities] (2019–2023). Coordinator of the conservation programme of stained glass from the collection of the National Museum in Wrocław, awarded the “Sibyl” first prize in 2014.

Member of the Association of Art Historians (Stowarzyszenie Historyków Sztuki), Polish National Committee of the Association Internationale pour l’Histoire du Verre, Polish National Committee of Corpus Vitrearum (since 1998), Association of Stained Glass Enthusiasts (Stowarzyszenie Miłośników Witraży) "Ars Vitrea Polona".
